Members of the All Assam Students? Union (AASU) together with 25 ethnic organizations of Assam take out a protest procession in support of their demands for abandoning all mega-dam projects in the Himalayan foothill areas, recognition to the flood and erosion problems of the State as the national ones, protection of Majuli and updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) according to the Assam Accord in Guwahati on Saturday, July 30, 2011. The students organizations have also suggested that for the development of the State and to meet its power need, the Government should go for installing micro-hydel project instead of the mega-hydel projects which have the potential to devastate the State.
